For the last 15+ years, I have worked to build my career in the public and private sectors as an expert in communications and marketing. Specifically, I focused on helping non-profit organizations advocate for low-income families by strengthening their campaigns and online presence to build legislative and public relations and support.
My work throughout my academic career has culminated in a thread that weaves criminal justice reform with immigrant rights movements and focuses on the role of organizations and advocacy through academic research. Being a first generation, non-traditional student who grew up in poverty in the South, I faced many educational and accessibility barriers that have shaped my career path, both academically and personally.
My twenties allowed me to live in different areas, from Baltimore City to Southern Louisiana, working with local communities and connecting with people in those areas, learning about their lives, different struggles, and experiences distinct to their environment. My experiences have shown me how communication matters in how we perceive people and the world around us.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my partner and our amazing daughter. Together, we love to travel, eat delicious (and pretentious) food, and go explore the world around us. Individually, I love to bake, read, run, and brew sour beer using fruits from my garden.
