On the X platform, I chose to follow multiple topics that I felt would highly benefit me as an educator. One topic that I thoroughly enjoy following is #STEMEducation. While following this topic, I have learned and heard valuable insight from experienced educators who see and understand the importance of STEM in the classroom. There are numerous jobs available in STEM fields, but it is being seen that students are not prepared to join this workforce because of their lack of STEM knowledge. 2. Making STEM Accessible for Young Minds 

The "First Class Coders" understand the importance of beginning STEM education at a young age. Beginning STEM education at a young age helps foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a strong foundation in science, technology, engineering, and math, setting students up for future success in these fields. Through this program, children are learning skills like coding and game development.

3. Making STEM Exciting 

STEM 101 strives to transform STEM into an interactive, unforgettable experience that inspires innovation. By doing this, students are using physical and digital resources that engage and prepare them for future careers. Another topic I enjoy following is #digitallearning.  Through the #digitallearning topic, I have gained valuable insight regarding the benefits that learning digitally can have for students. I have been able to read about veteran teachers' own experiences and specific ways they have seen it impact their classroom. This topic has also introduced me to an ample amount of tools that I can use to incorporate digital learning effectively into my classroom.  Below I have listed a few of the digital learning platforms that stuck out to me as an educator and a learner. 

1. Quizizz

Quizizz is an interactive, game-based learning platform that allows teachers to create quizzes, polls, and surveys to engage students in real time or with their homework. This resource is like a game for students, so it makes learning fun and motivating. Quizizz can be used for formative assessments, homework, and revisions, and it provides immediate feedback for the students. Also, teachers can receive detailed reports for each student, allowing them to track each student's progress.

2. Canva 

Canva is a web-based design tool that helps teachers and students create visually appealing materials without requiring design skills. This resource comes with easy-to-use templates, graphics, images, and fonts, making it very accessible and simple to use for any person. Benefits of Canva include customizable templates, collaborative features, and engaging materials. Whether a teacher or a student, anyone can use Canva to design material that enhances learning experiences.

Through this resource, students learn how to create and interact with multimedia content by turning basic visuals into engaging and interactive learning experiences. The next topic that I follow is #criticalthinking. This topic has changed my point of view on certain topics, and it has shown me how important it is to think critically. Although this topic is not specific to teaching, many teachers share topics that they think should be considered beyond the surface level. Encouraging critical thinking in the classroom fosters independent thought, empowers students to question assumptions, develop logical reasoning, and engage in thoughtful discussions. It equips them with essential skills to evaluate diverse perspectives, adapt to new challenges, and thrive in our changing world.

1. Understanding Misinformation

Cyber Civics is a digital literacy program that helps students become ethical, safe, and responsible digital citizens. Through this program, students develop critical thinking skills to recognize how common misinformation is and understand why it’s important to check facts carefully. Teaching media literacy gives students the tools they need to protect themselves from being misled online and helps them make smarter choices in the digital world.

One of its recent training sessions highlighted the importance of mastering critical thinking skills, emphasizing that these skills are essential for modern learners. The training focused on helping participants analyze problems, evaluate evidence, and make informed decisions in both professional and personal settings.

Following the #mathsed hashtag on Twitter has been such a great resource for me as a teacher! I’ve found so many creative lesson plans, teaching strategies, and ideas to make math more fun and engaging for my students. It’s also where I’ve come across professional development opportunities like webinars and conferences that have helped me grow. The best part is connecting with other teachers—there’s always someone sharing tips, solving challenges, or celebrating successes that inspire me. Plus, I’ve discovered some amazing tools and apps that have made integrating technology into my math lessons so much easier.

Maths in Schools provides support for mathematics and numeracy teachers of Foundation to Year 10 students through professional learning and education resources. The platform offers practical strategies for teaching key concepts and improving student engagement with math.
