About Me
Hello! My name is Kati Navarro, and I am twenty-five years old. I am from Ventura, California in the United States. I went to college in Colorado, where I attended Colorado State University and studied Health and Exercise Science. Throughout college I had many public service jobs such as working as a Nurse Assistant, caregiver, waitress and tutor. I have always enjoyed working with people, but I realized I particularly enjoy teaching. Once I realized that I have a passion for teaching, I decided to explore that field.
I came to Spain to broaden my horizons before starting a career in the US. I wanted to gain more teaching experience, learn Spanish, and expand my knowledge about the world and different cultures. It has been a great experience thus far, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be living and teaching in Seville.
I have always had a fascination with Spain and its culture because my ancestors are from the Basque region of Spain. However, my direct family is from Mexico, so I have never learned much about Spanish culture growing up, but I have always wanted to. In the summer of 2019 I visited Spain for the first time and loved it. I knew that after college I wanted to live somewhere in Spain.
In addition to my love for Spain, I also wanted to pursue my passion for teaching. Ultimately, I would like to involve teaching into my career someday, so I knew being a Language Assistant would be great experience. I am excited to have this opportunity to teach adults in Seville and constantly be learning new skills.
My expectations are to develop my teaching skills and increase my knowledge about different school systems while having a fulfilling cultural experience. I want to provide encouragement for anyone learning English, and improve every student's vocabulary and fluency. I hope to provide cultural insight in the classroom, while also expanding my knowledge about Spanish culture. I think I will continue to learn how to be more flexible, adaptable and determined to provide a great education for the students.
