Skyscraper Layout

Original

Revision

Background:

This is an idea for a layout that could be used as part of a larger brochure or magazine.

Design:

Contrast: Curved lines contrast the typical straight lines and right angles and make the layout more interesting.

Repetition: The clouds and blue color are repeated from inside the image.

Alignment: The text is aligned with the photo and the curve.

Proximity: Having the photo near the beginning of the text provides context for the reader to know what the writing is about.

Font: The font used is Acumin Variable Concept in regular and condensed bold. It is a sans serif font, so the clean, simple lines mirror the lines elsewhere in the design. Using a condensed bold version for the heading, and increasing the size, separates it from the body paragraph. But, using the same general font helps to smooth the transition from one to the next, along with the ellipsis.

Color: I used the eyedropper tool to find a color from the image and connect all the elements to each other. I chose a dark blue shade because it would add some interest but still be readable and neutral enough for a business setting.

Revision:

I left the design mostly the same, but adjusted the spacing to make it more even and replaced the dummy text.
