I approach every new piece with a simple mindset; to learn as much as I can about myself and the piece of art I will be creating. The journey of self discovery in music cannot be understated, with many pieces inspiring emotions and ideas that you may not have thought before. Articulating the ideas of the composer with my own developing musicianship is a delightful and personal way to express myself through music. Each note a word on a page, sentences building, breaking, and inspiring new thought and emotion. At the core of my musicianship is my reason for the creation of art. Why do I create art? Because I enjoy it, it has allowed me many opportunities, and the ability of self expression through performance, I love creating art. The personal meaningfulness, for me, lies in what my art can do for others. The communities I come from, my Appalachian culture, my chronic illness community, and queer identity inform my work as much as my personality and emotions do. Advocacy can be achieved through excellence, and it is my goal to serve and support the people who have served and supported me through my years of performance experience.
