PART ONE:
Today I used the Book Creator website to create my own book. I really don't know why I chose to explore Book Creator, maybe on the DL (down low), I would like to be a writer of children's books. It was easy to set up a profile and to get started. I created my own library and named it "Calming Corner." There are some pre-made templates you can use to guide your creation, or as I used a blank sheet. There are options in the plus (+) icon where you can find tools, media, and apps. Then there is an i icon that you can add to your page to make it pop, adding color borders and such. If you're too lazy to type there is an option to speak and it will type what you are saying, so be sure to be alone it easily picks up other voices (right Rebecca). I would like to explore deeper and see what the apps are all about and how I could use them to my advantage when creating a book or marking a book created by a student.
PART TWO:
It would be great to make books that are personalized to your students in the classroom. For example, if you are out doing a land-based activity taking pictures and creating a book out of it. You could also be inclusive by having students input on the written part, describing what they were doing in the picture and how it made them feel.
Applying it to CR3.1 Comprehend and respond to a variety of grade-level texts (including contemporary and traditional visual, oral, written, and multimedia) that address: identity (e.g., Spreading My Wings), community (e.g., Hand in Hand), social responsibility (e.g., All Together) and make comparison with personal experiences. (c) Compare portrayals of individuals or situations in various texts to personal experiences.
In BlueSkye I have found Wes Fryer who uses Book Creator "Thanks! I added you to my own #MediaLit list - I love using #bookcreator as a teacher! I helped our high school senior creative writing teacher for 6 years use Book Creator with students to publish children’s books!" https://bsky.app/profile/wesfryer.com/post/3lbcawkjtj22d
