Patient Recruitment Intern

As a patient recruitment intern, I get to interact with many patients with different backgrounds. One skill I have learned is respect, empathy , and kindness in all situations. Many of the patients I ask to complete a survey choose to do it just to have someone to vent to. I have enjoyed using every opportunity to listen to patients and make their day better.

During my capstone experience I really wanted to get the clinic experience. I have used my time efficiently by talking to staff on their job roles. I have learned many things about different components to a clinic, job roles, and strategic plan components as well.

During my internship I have also made close connections to my fellow interns and worked on networking. I have learned through them about different job experiences and what those look like.

Personal Development

Communication is a skill I worked on during my time at my internship. I contributed my bilingual skills throughout my internship. I also had experience with HIPPA and patient interactions through being a medical interpreter. One of my professional weaknesses is I focus too much on small details and need to focus on the bigger picture.

Academic Connections

One of the things we learned in capstone was the importance of growing your network. During my internship I was in person and really took advantage of being able to talk to the clinic staff and other interns.
