Health Policy Programs Assistant 

The IUSON Health Policy Empowerment Initiative

My role in this project is to assist Dr. Sharron Crowder in the establishment of The Indiana University School of Nursing Health Policy Empowerment Initiatives. The mission of the Empowerment Initiatives is to engage nursing students and faculty in health policy education, mentorship, and leadership. The Empowerment Initiatives are a set of integrated and immersive experiences designed to educate and embolden nurse leaders to assert their expertise and fully participate in healthcare policy and advocacy. 

I have helped Dr. Crowder with the establishment of the Empowerment Initiatives, including the development of foundational written and electronic program material, coordination and implementation of programs, and analysis and evaluation of individual and overall initiative offerings.

Specific tasks: 

1. Establishing foundational descriptive material and resources

2. Coordinating meetings with stakeholders 

3. Participating in the analysis of nursing curriculum to facilitate threading of health policy and advocacy into courses

4. Identifying opportunities for speaking engagements, conferences, and other forms of dissemination and engagement
