I regularly teach foundational courses that serve Women's and Gender Studies, Sociology, and Public Health. I currently offer two courses in WGS dealing with sexuality studies (a 100-level Introduction to LGBT+ Studies and an advanced seminar on Queer Theory); I also offer courses on health, inequality, and the body (Sociology of Health and Medicine; Disability and Difference; Sociology of the Body).
All of my courses take a feminist sociological approach to their subject material. By this, I mean that students learn to read and evaluate evidence; to consider multiple perspectives and experiences according to gender, race, class, sexuality, ability, and their intersections; and to look beyond individual choices to the institutions and social structures that shape our choices and identities.
