To create my marketing campaign for Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express, I took inspiration from 1930’s art deco movie and travel posters as well as some more modern day art. I designed a visual interpretation of the theme of justice versus mercy which the main protagonist, Hercule Poirot, contemplates throughout the play. I contrasted free-flowing, red patterns with the rigid, dark, cold-toned gray shapes of the train to symbolize the delicate balance between justice and mercy, also adding hints of lighter grays and beige throughout the design which represents the uncertainty of choosing between the two ideologies.
