Objective of this arboretum is to conserve indigenous tree species. Local communities can identify exotic eucalyptus and grevilia and have no access to indigenous species which were destroyed during land commercialization into coffee and tea plantations where most trees were uprooted to give way to coffee trees. The few that remained were further over exploited for medical use Tree bucks and roots were used as medicine further killing local trees to extinction in the process. . After coffee became unprofitable business, the land was turned into a quarry. i bought the wasteland and have been restoring it for over 10 years .

Arboretum- > 200 indigenous tree species have been planted. Educational visits by students @ kes 50 per student and @100 for adults, Bee farming lessons @kes 100 per person , jogging & walkways. and selected seedlings available

Family: Fabaceae common names ;Red calliandra, powder-puff
Origin; Central America / Mexico Apiculture: Flowers contain nectar and because flowering lasts throughout the year bee keeping is profitable. Fodder: Leaves and pods are rich in protein and do not contain any toxic substances. Protein content is 22% (dry matter) and annual fodder yield (dry matter) amounts to about 7-10 t/ha. The fodder can be given to all types of ruminants and fulfils 40-60% of their needs.
