Elli Kartsakli

Hi, I'm Elli Kartsakli, an established researcher (R3) in the wireless telecommunications sector. I was born in Athens (Greece) in 1980,  and have been living in Barcelona (Spain) since 2005. I hold a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece (2003), an M.Sc. in Mobile and Satellite Communications from the University of Surrey, UK (2004), and a Ph.D. in Wireless Telecommunications from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), Spain (2012). 

I joined the Barcelona Supercomputing Center  (BSC-CNS) as a senior Ramon y Cajal Researcher in December 2019. Since then, I am part of the Computer Sciences - Predictable Parallel Computing group and Area Leader of Edge To Cloud Computing Paradigms. My current work focuses on distributed workflows orchestration across edge cloud and HPC environments, taking also into account 5G and beyond architectural aspects. 

Previously, I have worked as a Marie-Curie a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the IAPP-WSN4QoL project at UPC, which finalized in November 2015. Until November 2019, I have been part of the R&D department of the software company IQUADRAT as  technical coordinator and senior researcher in the context of 5G technologies. 

I have significant experience in Horizon Europe/2020/FP7 European and national projects. I am currently the PI of ELIXIRION and FORGE. I served as PI and technical manager of VERGE, PI of AIR-URBAN and PROXIMITY, use case leader in ASCENDER and researcher in EXTRACT. I have been a WP leader in ELASTIC and CLASS projects coordinated by BSC. I have also actively participated in several projects (5GPP Phase 2 – 5G-PHOS, ITN-STEP FWD, ITN-SPOTLIGHT, RISE-CASPER, IAPP-WSN4QoL, ITN-Greenet, IAPP-Coolness, etc.).
