MSc in Mobile and Satellite communications,  Electrical and Computer Engineer

Hi, I'm Elli Kartsakli, a senior research engineer in the wireless telecommunications sector. I was born in Athens (Greece) in 1980,  and have been living in Barcelona (Spain) since 2005. I hold a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece (2003), an M.Sc. in Mobile and Satellite Communications from the University of Surrey, UK (2004), and a Ph.D. in Wireless Telecommunications from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), Spain (2012).

Since December 2019, I work in the Barcelona Supercomputing Center  (BSC-CNS) as a senior Ramon y Cajal Researcher.  I am part of the Computer Sciences - Predictable Parallel Computing group, working on scheduling policies and distributed architectures for 5G-enabled edge computing environments.

Previously, I have worked as a Marie-Curie a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the IAPP-WSN4QoL project at UPC, which finalized in November 2015. Until November 2019, I have been part of the R&D department of the software company IQUADRAT as  technical coordinator and senior researcher in the context of 5G technologies.

I have significant experience in Horizon Europe/2020/FP7 European and national projects. I am currently the PI and technical manager of VERGE, the PI of ELIXIRION, AIR-URBAN and PROXIMITY, and also involved in EXTRACT and ASCENDER. I have been a WP leader in ELASTIC and CLASS projects coordinated by BSC. I have also actively participated in the proposal preparation and execution of several projects (5GPP Phase 2 – 5G-PHOS, ITN-STEP FWD, ITN-SPOTLIGHT, RISE-CASPER, IAPP-WSN4QoL, ITN-Greenet, IAPP-Coolness, etc.). My primary research interests include edge computing and distributed architectures, network slicing, protocols and architectures for 5G networks and beyond.
