About me

Welcome to 8th grade! My name is Joe VanDommelen and I am starting my second year teaching here at Karcher and my 7th year overall as a teacher. I live in the Burlington area with my wife and three kids.

As part of my education, I attended UW-Parkside for my Bachelor's degree in Geography and minor in History. I then went to UW-Milwaukee to get my teaching license to be able to teach Social Studies in grades 6 through 12. I later went to Viterbo University to add a license to teach Special Education, as well. I am also excited to be continuing my education while working on my Masters in Education.

In my time outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids creating adventures and memories. I enjoy doing activities outdoors, such as camping and hunting. I am also a guitar player and love doing that on my free time. I am a classic rock guru and also love watching movies, particularly comedies (Chris Farley, Jim Carrey, etc), westerns (Clint Eastwood, Tombstone, etc), and war movies (Platoon, Windtalkers, Saving Private Ryan, etc).
