Just for Kids

Welcome to Ninja Kids!

The Ninja Kids program is designed to introduce young students to traditional Karate training in a safe, supportive, and positive environment. Karate, or “The Way of the Empty Hand”, has been around for a very long time, passed down from generation to generation.

Today, young students decide to take Karate for different reasons. Some because their parents want them to join, perhaps because they saw a movie or TV show about Karate, maybe because they are worried about being picked on, and others because they have friends or family members who train in Martial Arts. There are many reasons for kids to start training, and all of them are good reasons.

However, no new student, or parent, can really understand the value of Karate training until they’ve experienced it for themselves. Most parents see significant positive changes in their children, even in a very short period of time.

Some of the changes parents see in their children:

Things that children learn from participating in the Ninja Kids program:

This class is very different than any other children’s program you’ve ever seen or been to.  There is a high demand and expectation placed on each student, regardless of their age. However, students are never asked to do anything that they aren’t capable of, and are coached very closely by highly skilled and experienced instructors. Students are taught to never give up, never fail, and to always find a way to overcome their challenges.

Furthermore, belt ranks and promotions are never just handed out, they must be earned. Every student must show a level of proficiency for their belt rank. Simply coming to class and going through the motions is not enough to advance. After they have been training for a period of time, students are invited to participate in a promotion test, where they must demonstrate the knowledge and ability of the skills that they have been taught, but only when they are ready. Students must show that they understand the philosophical lessons, proper attitude, and techniques for their belt rank. Earning belt ranks in this way gives students a sense of confidence that comes from pride and self-worth. Students who are not quite ready can receive extra coaching from instructors, and are supported as much as possible. Students are never set up to fail, because in Martial Arts, failure is never an option. However, their success is ultimately earned on their own.
