INTRODUCTION
Kongoi Kaptich is a public mixed day secondary school managed by a legally inaugurated BOM. The school was started by the local leadership and parents who gave consent of land from kongoi primary school. This was to cater for class 8 graduates who could not afford boarding fees in boarding schools or travel long distances to access secondary education in public day schools.
In Kongoi area, there is only one secondary school which is a boarding school despite the fact that, there many primary schools with poor buildings, no facilities and poor teaching. Many children cannot attend school as they live too far away.
We are building a modern day secondary to help cater for those students. The school will be well equipped with high quality teaching and long term management support by the newly instituted BOM.
WHY COMPLETE THE SCHOOL?
Kuresoi north area has been one of the marginalized areas in terms of education and general infrastructure. The children are so eager to learn but the few primary schools in the area are all very poor. None offer boarding. Few primary schools graduates access the better secondary schools, as their primary results are too poor.
We are building a modern day school. The buildings are of stone and secure. The school will be
equipped with computers, a library and science equipment. Much emphasis will be placed on the quality of teaching. Students who attend the school will have a high chance of attending a good University. Some will come back to the area and help develop the Kongoi community. The school will enable those living near to
attend school.
WHAT WILL BE THE IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY?
Building a school is a long term project. Although the benefits to the individual children are
Immediate, the benefits to the community are very long term. The benefits will only come about
Once the children have finished education and use their knowledge as teachers, engineers,
Accountants, doctors etc to help their community. The secondary school is just the first step on this
Long process but a very necessary step. Without this step, the rest of the process is not possible.
More short term, there will be employment benefits to the community by way of jobs as builders,
Then jobs as cooks, caretakers, cleaners etc.
WHAT ARE WE BUILDING?
6 classrooms
A library
A twin lab
A computer lab
Toilet Blocks,
Water Borehole
water tanks and septic tanks.
Kitchen
Dining hall
Teacher’s houses
The school opened it doors in 2019 with an enrolment of 134 students. It has been in operation for two years. Our two classes are packed to capacity forcing us to turn our staff room to a class. Our biggest worry is where to take the form FOURS when the form ones arrive next year.
The school vision is to be the leading mixed day secondary school.
The school is located in a rural area far from town and this is why the school needs the teachers’ houses.
THE PROGRESS SO FAR
The local community has donated a 5 acre piece of land curved out of the 12 acres of primary school land; with An Allotment Letter Dated 10th July 1996 under; Molo South/Kuresoi Block 5/ Kongoi, Parcel No. 764

WHY SUPPORT KAPTICH KONGOI DAY SECONDARY SCHOOL PROJECTS?
We really do make a difference in the community and spend every penny wisely. The school is located in a highly potential catchment area. The completion will help cater for class 8 graduates who cannot afford boarding fees in boarding secondary schools and travel long distances to access secondary education in public secondary schools. in addition there ELEVEN primary schools in the area with huge population which are providing the pupils to boost the school’s enrolment i.e Kongoi, Lemechonik, Rolet, Morobei, Amani, Kongoi Academy, Sondu River, Mkulima, Kerisoi, Bochege And Saino
