Hi! I'm Kanishk. I’m an M.S. Mechanical Engineering at Stanford (graduating in June 2024). I completed my B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani, India in 2022.
My coursework specializes in design methodology, mechatronics, manufacturing and product realization. I'm passionate about how design thinking and innovation can lead to products that positively impact communities and help transition to a more sustainable future.
In my free time, you may find me playing tennis or badminton, watching football (soccer), F1 or cricket, or admiring fiction literature and poetry.

Robotics -
Spent a semester with the Smart Robotics Lab at Hiroshima University, Japan, to simulate quadruped robots on Open Dynamics Engine.
Made a greeting bot and a semi-automated vehicle as a part of the Mechatronics coursework at Stanford.
Medical device design -
Interned at Boston Scientific, published a patent in 2 months (improves their catheter design).
Prototyped a smart IoT-based digital respirometer to help improve lung capacity for COVID patients.
Part-time CAD Designer at Humors Tech (seed-stage medical device startup) - designed their Respr device
Sustainability -
Interned with Stanford GSB to consult a carbon-negative waste management firm, helping them to track and report emissions and net savings.
Made a sensor box that tracks "health" of a workspace - air quality, temperature, humidity, and density of people - and connects with HVAC and ventilation systems to (a) reduce energy use and make HVAC smarter, and (b) collect data relevant for ESG reporting. Project sponsored by real estate firms in Austria.
Created a defect-detection model for 3D printers that can detect (in-situ) common printing defects or tolerance limit exceeded, and stop the print, thereby saving material, energy and time for the user. Project in collaboration with researchers in Germany.
Published a research paper highlighting the correlation between stubble burning and decreasing air quality in Delhi, and suggested cooperative biogas plants as a solution.

I have worked with multiple programming languages and CAD software for my projects or course requirements. I've been proficient with C/C++ since high school, while I started learning numerical methods on MATLAB and Python in my 2nd year of undergrad. For my extra-curricular and startup work, I also gained proficiency in design tools.
