Introduction
Rural Japan, 1050. You have passed away in a car accident and now
find yourself at the entrance of a shrine where you can pass into the afterlife and ascend into the world of the Kami.
This shrine is the place where the souls of the deceased come to join the Kamis in the afterlife. Kami are spirits of gods and past souls, but before one can ascend to the world of the Kami they must prove themselve worthy.
Two of the most importent Kami, Amaterasu (the Kami of the sun) and Tsukuyomi (the Kami of the moon) protect this shrine to prevent those who are unworthy from ascending.
The entrance of the shrine is marked by a Torii gate and the Shrine is filled with more sacred Shinto symbols such as the Shimenawa ropes and small worshipping shrines.
You must prove yourself worthy of ascencion into the afterlife by solving the entrances mechanism and using the blessing of day and night provided by the gods to your advantage.
Only then will you be able to pass on and rest with the kami.
