Industry–Academia Collaboration
SNIoE–HCLTech Participation at India Mobile Congress (IMC 2026), New Delhi | 9 October 2026
Participated in the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026 (Asia's Largest Tech Fest) at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi with my research collaborator Dr. Shankar K. Ghosh and his team of Dr. Avirup Das (Scientific officer) and Ms. Shruti (Research Scholar) from the CSE Department at SNIoE, and demonstrated the recent progress made on the ongoing collaboration between 5G laboratory of HCLTech and SNIoE in the area of Open Radio Access (O-RAN) Networks. Our collaborators on the HCLTech side are: Ramesh Sriraman (Chief Architect, Telecom Engineering and R&D Services, HCL Technologies), Mr. Sunil (O-RAN Architect), and Mr. Vidhu (O-RAN Architect); and other Industry stakeholders. The participation provided a valuable opportunity to highlight our ongoing collaborative efforts, exchange ideas on emerging wireless technologies, and strengthen the synergy between academic research and industry-driven innovation. Our engagement reflects a shared commitment to advancing next-generation wireless communication technologies, particularly in the area of Non-terrestrial networks (NTN) and O-RAN, through collaborative test-bed development, experimental validation, and tighter alignment of research objectives with practical industry requirements.
Sincere thanks to the University leadership and the Dean, School of Engineering (SoE), for their continued support and guidance.
Research and Technical Engagement with the 5G Testbed Laboratory Team
@ ECE Department, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore | 24–25 August 2026
I recently visited the 5G Testbed Laboratory at IISc Bangalore, led by Prof. Chandra R. Murthy, with my colleague Dr. Shankar Ghosh from the CSE Department at SNIoE. We worked with the research team and developed a small O-RAN testbed.
Discussions covered Mobility Robustness Optimization, V2X in O-RAN, O-RAN split architectures, and AI-empowered networking. We now aim to build a full-fledged O-RAN testbed at SNU in collaboration with IISc to support teaching, research, prototyping, and industry engagement.
Thanks to Prof. Vinod Sharma for connecting us to Prof. Chandra Murthy’s research group on 5G and for his mentorship. Many thanks to Prof. Rajeev Kumar Singh, Dean, School of Engineering, for his wholehearted support in facilitating the visit and furthering the ongoing development of the Communication Engineering Laboratory infrastructure in the EE Department at SNIoE, including the 5G testbed equipment and computational facilities.
