Hi, my names kimberly but most people call me Kam. something Im interested in is mechanical engineering, ever since i was a little kid and my family came to the states we my dad had worked as a mechanical engineer and he would always tell me about everything he would do at work. Its always been a career field ive pursued but biomedical engineering is also a career field ive wanted to pursue. Ive always loved the medical an biology fields and thought that biomedical engineering was a career that could change peoples lives and ive always liked the idea of something i worked on improving peoples lives.
The classes I’ve taken to help me in achieving my career goal would be Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 honors, algebra 3, Chemistry and Engineering 1.The programs I’ve taken to help in obtaining my dream would be the Tech Center Program I'm currently in. What I’ve learned so far to help me would be my math skills and my engineering class has given me the chance to get certifications such as Autocad.
Extracurricular activities ive done is Chinese Club at my home highschool for a year, Ive also done SkillUsa and comepted at a state level and got third place and then went to volunteer as courtesy corps for nationals. Im also doing LLS (Leukemia and Lymphoma society) which i am currently raising money for and also hoping for the student visionary of the year award and also have a past with LLS. Ive also participated in a Science and engineering fair where I placed first in my category and moved on to regionals where i won a financial award and was an honorable mention. LLS and the science and engineering fair have improved my presentation skills and public speaking skills, its also taught me how to write professional emails and professional presentations to companys.
After graduating from highschool i plan on going to college at the college of southern maryland or university of maryland. Im hoping to go to college to further my education in the mechanical engineering field to see if its right for me. If not i hope to major in biomedical engineering instead so i would be more capable in my career field and improve my workplace skills.
Once i complete my career goals i hope to affect my community in a positive way by bringing information to light that would change peoples lives in a positive way and leave a lasting impression on the community, hoping that ill be efficient at my career or help others with quality of life in my career.
