This was an introductory aspect to the course where Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) was introduced, the causes, as well as the epidemiology.
This course entailed 3 modules of 21 hours over 4 weeks :
the brain module,
the disease module and
the person module
In this course, I learnt about dementia, what exactly happens in this condition, the symptoms, types of dementia as well as how to relate with people living with dementia.
In this section of the course, I learnt on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and health (ICF), assessment of a brain injured person, disorders of consciousness as well as outcome tools used in assessing a TBI patient.
In this section, I learnt how it is important to have an interdisciplinary team in the management of patients with TBI. Also learnt the role of physiotherapists in the management.
