Welcome to my ePortfolio! My name is Kaitlyn Grow. I am 20 years old, and I will be graduating from the OTA program in May 2026. Occupational Therapy is a therapy that helps individuals with the occupations that occupy their time, such as getting dressed, brushing their teeth, getting in and out of bed, and engaging in various hobbies. No matter the person's circumstances. I decided to go to school for this because of my dad, who passed away from brain cancer at the beginning of 2023. This cancer caused a lot of damage to his brain, which affected his memory and body functions. He needed a lot of therapy throughout his 6-month cancer journey. This is where I was introduced to Occupational Therapy. There is a lot of love and compassion within this field. I got to watch my dad learn how to dress himself again, learn to eat and brush his teeth with his non-dominant hand, and so much more. My goal is to help people like my dad, whose lives were turned upside down, and who need some help feeling like themselves again. I am already learning so much from this program and will continue to learn even more, even after my time here at SLCC is over.
