Most recently (24-25 AY), I was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd College. In Summer 2025, I had the honor of teaching advanced middle school students at Camp Conway with National Math Camps!
My research interests include low-dimensional topology and knot theory. More specifically, I enjoy virtual unknotting of virtual torus knots!
I earned my Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in August 2024 with much gratitude for my advisor Mark Brittenham. Before that, I earned my B.S. in mathematics in May 2018 from Sam Houston State University. (eat 'em up kats!)
While topology is my main research focus, I am also involved in math education; specifically, I am interested in how we can co-create inclusive, equitable, and joyful math experiences with both learners and educators, as well as how we can practice radical acceptance to pursue a more rich and unapologetically human math community.
I am proud to share that in Spring 2022, I received the college-wide awards UNL CAS Inclusive Excellence and Diversity Award and UNL ODI Promising Leader Award! Check out this related article! I too am proud to share that I received department awards during the 22-23 AY, all of which can be found in my CV.
Outside of work, I enjoy crocheting, writing poetry, having a cute little drink, and feeling the sun on my skin!
Non-math things I am currently learning: digital art, the korean language, western astrology (it's basically the unit circle of the stars!)
