For the production of recombinant proteins, Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells have been the most popular hosts in industry since the first product, human tPA, was approved for marketing in the mid 1980's. As of 2002, more than 50 recombinant proteins produced from CHO cells are approved for marketing. Our research group focus on the research and development of therapeutic protein production using recombinant CHO cells. The topics range from molecular biology to bioprocess engineering.
