My general research interests lie in the area of design and control of power converters and its application in photovoltaic systems. In particular, a unifying theme of my research is the development of new multilevel inverters and new optimization algorithms for targeted harmonic elimination while controlling the inverters.
I have been involved in development of (a) several new reduced components multilevel inverters (reduced switch, reduced source, single source, common-ground and transformer-less designs) best suitable for the photovoltaic application, (b) evolutionary search algorithms for harmonic control in multilevel inverters, (c) fundamental and high switching frequency PWM control schemes, (d) High gain converters and (e) power management algorithm for photovoltaic-battery integrated systems.

Key Achievements:
Different multilevel inverter (MLI) structures using reduced number of switches are developed in view of future application to PV system. A laboratory scale research module for the MLI interfacing PV system is installed in the Power Electronics laboratory at NIT Meghalaya and extensive experimental tests are carried out in real-time.
