Book shelves in a studio for a couple, the husband is a painter and the wife makes leather caft. The main request was not to design unnecessary things like decoration, but to create some atmosphere like Mark Rothko's painting. And the architect who designed this studio also prefers the quiet beauty of the space.

Taking the composition of colour arraying on line shape like stripes found in Rothko's painting and the planing of atlier by architect which had impressive hallway at middle of rectangle plane as subject of design, we design tall linear space of storage at these shelves. This high linear space can be used to conveniently store tall items and also acts as an adjuster when make this shelf just the length from one wall to another. 

The slit of double vertical panels, back and front, create an impression of lightness by leading the light into inner part of shelf which usually dark.
