Notes: Pursuant to a Computer Science FAQ distributed in April, 2018, the NJ DOE recommends that mathematics credit awarded be limited to just AP Computer Science A. Additionally, if AP Computer Science A is offered for math credits, the course must be taught by certified math teacher.
Law 3: Public Schools Serving Students in Grades 9-12, other than county vocational school districts, Must Offer a Course in Computer Science

Notes: The course shall include, but need not be limited to, instruction in computational thinking; computer programming; the appropriate use of the internet and the development of internet webpages; data security and the prevention of data breaches; ethical matters in computer science; and the global impact of advancements in computer science. The statute does not require the course to be associated with credit attainment.
Law 4: Authorization of a High School Computer Science Endorsement to an Existing Instructional Certification
Timeline: None provided; at such time as the State board determines that there is a sufficient number of teachers holding the computer science education endorsement to make the requirement feasible.
