K-12 CS Teacher Professional Development Workshop
Instructor may reuse the materials here freely.
Please note that each learning module may contain too much information for a single lecture in a K-12 class. Therefore, it is inevitable to restrict to just one single topic or notion for a 50 minute lecture. The hands-on exercise alone may take more than 50 minutes. We suggest make multiple short video to cover the steps presented here. This is exceptionally helpful in long tedious steps in solving a problem. In designing your lecture, please make sure all learning materials are compliant to CS standard in your state.
Students may be grouped by two to work on homework, assignments, or projects. This allows students to exercise extreme programming (pair programming), which is a proven effective pedagogical model in computer science.
Instructors may create a discussion forum (e.g., Discord) for students to share learning experience and ask questions. Students may be encouraged by earning points for answering other students' questions or actively participating in class discussion.
