Stemming from my Internship in MTSU's Historic Costume Collection, I proposed the idea of doing an exhibition to highlight the HCC. Dr. Pisut, my mentor and head of the Fashion Department, jumped on the idea and set out to get the gallery space reserved. I worked with a team of 3 undergraduate fashion students to get the exhibition put together. I curated the exhibition with the team working as assistant-curators. I gave final approval for the looks created for the exhibition and created all interpretive materials. The collection is mostly womenswear from the 1960s to 1980s. This being the first time the collection went on exhibition we put our best foot forward by theming the collection around 1980s workwear, casual wear and evening wear. The event was a smashing success with major attendance from fashion students, history students and art department faculty. Most important, a major donor of the fashion program visited and was very impressed with the work and is now considering donating more garments to the collection
