1990 - 1995 : Coached at the Hawker Tennis Centre Canberra under Bruce and Stephanie Larkham who both played at Wimbledon. While I was doing my Business Degree at Canberra University I coached 15-20 Hours a week. The Larkhams suggested I do the Level 1 Tennis Australia Coaches Course in 1990.
1995 : Travelled with Brent Larkham (ATP ranking 108) and Todd Larkham (ATP ranking 136) on the ATP Tour coaching them in Europe for 6 Months.
1997-1999 : Moved to Sweden and began work as a full time tennis coach at the Akersberga Tennis Club near Stockholm, coaching both Adults and children. After 1 year I became the Head Coach and my main task was to be in charge of 25 elite juniors, and I was responsible for their tennis program and tournament scheduling.
1999-2000 : Returned to Canberra, ACT, and leased and managed the privately owned 12 court, Hawker Tennis Centre. Coached full time and employed up to 4 assistant tennis coaches and operated the Hawker Tennis Centre pro shop (including pro shop sales, hire of tennis gear and equipment, racquet stringing. The Business involved coaching of 300 children amd adults on a regular basis. Organising a weekly junior tennis tournament at the club with up to 50 children and organising Sunday interclub pennant for HTC Juniors. I had to grade players into teams and find reserves. I supervised and watched junior club pennant matches.
2001-2003 : Entered into a business partnership 'Larkham and Wight' to manage and coach a small group of aspring Australian tennis professionals (up to 8) based at the Sutton Tennis Academy , London and Travelling to tournaments throughout Europe, America and Australia. (Brent Larkham went on to become the Head Tennis Development coach at the Austrlain institute of Sport, Head of National Academy. The experience involved both coaching at the Sutton Tennis Academy and travelling to Futures, Challengers, Tour Events and Grand Slams. Players included Todd Larkham (Ranked ATP 136 Doubles 188), Alun Jones (Ranked ATP 123 Doubles 149) Ben Ellwood (Ranked ATP 140 Doubles 88), Luke Bourgeois (ATP Ranked 262 Doubles 169) Wayne Arthurs (Ranked 44 Doubles 11) Paul Hanley (Ranked ATP 395 Doubles 5)
2003-2004 : Returned to Melbourne in 2003 to complete a 6 month Massage Therapy certificate course at the Melbourne Institute of Massage Therapy to support players from July.
2004-2006 : I worked as a self employed touring coach and masseur traveling with Australian Davis Cup players Wayne Arthurs and Paul Hanley on the ATP Tour. During this time Wayne Arthurs won his maiden singles tour event in Scottsdale, beating Mario Ancic 16 in the world . Wayne Arthurs and Paul Hanley were ranked 9 in the world as a team. Runner up in the World Team Cup to Chile, however beating Garcia/Massu in the final. Team consisted of Arthurs/Hanley, Hewitt, Phillipousis. Final of Rome beating Bryan Brothers in Semi final, who were number 1 in the world. Semis of Wimbledon, Final of LA, Final of Stockholm. 2005 Won San Jose, Final of Scottsdale, Final of Indian Wells, again beating the Bryan Brothers in Semi final, Quarters of French Open.
2008-2009 : With Wayne Arthurs pending retirement I returned to Australia to become Manager and Head Coach for John Alexander (Alexander's at White City) with up to 4 assistant coaches at White City Tennis Club, Sydney.
2008-Present : Following rejection by the Woollahra City Council of John Alexanders development proposal for the White City complex I set myself up as a full time self employed Tennis Coach working privately at Centennial Parklands Tennis Centre in Sydney. During this time I have produced 2 players in the top 5 and 1 in the top 10 on the Australian Junior ranking system. William Berrigan Ranked 5, Maria Vais Ranked 5 and Piper Freeman Ranked 10. All of them have played in State Teams for NSW. Piper going onto Divison 1 college Tennis in America.
I was engaged as a tour leader by Advanced Olympic Travel to organise and manage an 11 day tennis tour to China. These tours provide an opportunity for touring participants to combine tennis and a holiday to China. My role included organising and playing tennis at local tennis clubs in Shanghai and Beijing, coaching tour participants and concluded with attendance to the shanghai tennis masters 2009, 2010, 2011.
Current Head coach of Sceggs Darlinghurst. Since I started at Sceggs they have moved from 25 in the Tildesely Shield to 13.
Full time coach working out of Centennial Parklands Tennis Centre, Eastern Suburbs, Sydney.
