Eight years of teaching certainly gives me a unique perspective on the issues brought to the board. RTI, IEPs, and 504s aren't simply acronyms. I have experienced them. I have a deep understanding about teaching in the classroom and everything else that helps achieve our school's mission. My education background will help me make informed decisions about the education of our next generation.
I have previously served as the treasurer of the Grain Palace City Rodeo Association when I taught in North Dakota. In Illinois, I was a board member and eventually the president of Sand Bluff Bird Observatory for a year. I have also attended roughly half of Prairie Hill CUSD Board meetings since 2020 as both a staff member and parent. I have a deep understanding of how boards function. I even am well informed about the topics and decisions made by the school board I hope to be elected to on April 4, 2023.
As a software engineer, my background in technology can help navigate the increasingly technological world. The pandemic accelerated this push towards technology, but the reality is technology is a big part of all of our lives. Being able to wade through technical jargon and evaluate technical needs will be valuable to our board.
In addition to my technical background, I work with a wide variety of stakeholders on a daily basis. Our common goal is to work incrementally to meet requirements and make our products better, teachers' lives easier, and student achievement flourish. These skills will be valuable as I work together with my team: the other school board members, staff, and everyone else that calls Prairie Hill home.
