I'm a tenure-track assistant professor at the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC) of HKU. My research focuses on health communication, specifically in two areas: how social norms influence our thoughts and behaviors in the health domain, and how emerging technologies, such as mixed reality, can be used to motivate positive health behaviors. I'm genuinely curious about how people think and act, and I hope my research can make a positive impact on others' lives.
Before my current position, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Human Genome Research Institute, National Institutes of Health in the U.S. I earned my Ph.D. in Communication Science and Social Cognition from the University of Maryland, my M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and my B.A. in Journalism and Economics (dual-degree) from Peking University.
Outside of my academic life, I'm a dog mom and human mom. I love running, hiking, kayaking, sailing, traveling, binge-watching TV dramas, reading, savoring delicious food, and caring about the environment.
