My teaching helps students move from learning political science to analyzing political questions independently. I organize courses around substantive questions and guide students in comparing explanations, evaluating evidence, and developing arguments of their own. I also aim to create an inclusive learning environment in which students with different backgrounds and levels of preparation can engage meaningfully with the material and learn from perspectives other than their own.
My teaching spans international relations, international security, and comparative politics at UC Santa Barbara, as well as earlier teaching at Seoul National University. In recognition of my teaching, I received UC Santa Barbara’s 2025 Adams-Lee Distinguished Teaching Assistant Award.
