Global Citizen
Global connection is at our fingertips. As someone who comes from a multicultural background and loves traveling, I am grateful to live in a world that is more accessible today than ever before. I aspire to be a global citizen who is self-aware and conscious in all I do. I seek to continuously learn more about myself and the world around me so that I can better contribute to my community using my strengths.
Jumana is a fourth-year student athlete from Kennesaw, Georgia who is seeking her bachelor’s degree in Public Health at Agnes Scott College. What began as an effort to educate her peers about health and preventable diseases through the creation of a social health and wellness program in high school, translated to pursuing a degree in the field. Through her degree, she discovered a passion for advocacy and social justice. Jumana has pursued a comprehension in her field through a range of professional experiences, including hospital volunteer programs, CIFAL Atlanta, and notably, Emory University’s Development and Alumni Relations Department. It was here that she gained a holistic understanding of the process of raising funds for research and institutional development. This insight, which is important for any research project, advertising campaign, intervention implementation, etc. Most recently, she interned with the Georgia WAND Education Fund, Inc. (Checkout the "Internship" tab to learn more about her experience there). After her bachelor’s program, Jumana hopes to fight social injustice through policy development in the areas of education and healthcare access.
