2. Overarching Competency #1- Reflective Practice: I feel this competency is now at developing because I have used data to make a plan to promote growth both for myself and for colleagues by addressing an issue that staff have identified.
Overarching Competency #2- Personal Effectiveness: I feel this competency is now at developing because I have purposefully sought out a leadership role by speaking with my principal and seeking the oppportunity to further address the identified need for clearly defined problem behaviors and consequences. In addition, I have responded to adversity with resilience by adjusting when schools were closed due to COVID-19.
Diversity-Equity-Cultural Competence- Collaborate Purposefully: I feel this competency continues to be at developing. I continue to engage in self-education, self-reflection and self-improvement and am taking steps to develop and adjust my behavior with other cultural groups. However, I have not been able to take these steps with other stakeholders of all cultures.
Instructional Competency- Coaching and Mentoring I feel that in this competency I am still at the emerging stage, as I continue to value my own professional growth but have not had the chance to promote that value with colleagues.
3. My next steps to continue growing as a teacher leader are to move forward with my plan to address the inequity and challenge of better defining behavior standards and consequences.
4. The most valuable part of the TLI process for me was connecting with other teachers who are also interested in growing personally and professionally. I also really value the lessons on diversity and equity, which has allowed me to think about those concepts within my own classroom and look at how I can provide my students a more equitable educational experience, as well as setting an example for colleagues.
