In this project, we made a two-minute trailer about a current event topic using one of Shakespeare's classics. We based our movie off Shakespeare's "The Tempest," and used the current event of North Korea's conflict with the United States. In it, we incorporated elements and characters of both to form a cohesive trailer.
Before filming, we had to storyboard our plan so we knew which shots we needed. The picture of our storyboard on the right, shows sketches of each scene with descriptions or camera angles, lighting, and script.
I made the logo shown on the left for our film company "Catch The Snail Productions," which we used to open our trailer.
Filming was the most fun part of the whole project. Everyone in my group played the characters in the trailer, and we dressed up to film the scenes. We kept track of what we had filmed with a shot list, and used various locations around the school for the set. After we finished filming, we used Final Cut Pro to edit the movie, and recorded sound clips for the voice overs.
We had an "Academy Awards" night where we all watched our trailers we had worked so hard on. After we saw all the movies, the audience could vote for which one was the best. We won the overall award of people's choice. To the right is a picture of my whole group on stage accepting our award.
