KZSC became one of my favorite creative communities during college. It gave me a glimpse of the music world and what more I could learn. I had access to endless music as physical media, gotten access to so many live shows and artists, and met so many wonderful people that shared the same obsession. As an early member of the Tiny Couch Committee, I helped imagine and support projects that brought people together beyond the radio booth. We welcomed local bands and artist to play live at our station and shared it over the airways. I created promotional graphics and posters for events, explored visual storytelling through station branding, and eventually stepped into the role of Member Services Coordinator, where I organized merch fulfillment, coordinated fundraising efforts, and helped sustain the listener-supported community that makes independent radio possible!
