PhD opportunity
Are you interested in plant-microbe metagenomics?
We are looking for an excellent for an Eiffel PhD scholarship, in collab with the group of Ashley Shade here at the microbial ecology lab in Lyon
Includes: salary, health, housing and traveling to home country
Conditions: born after March 31st 1992, non-french,
Main criteria: excellent grades (top 10%) and curriculum
We'll be receiving applications until 15 nov 2024, the start date in 2025 is flexible
The aim of the project is to identify key microbial processes in the rhizosphere associated to improved plant nutrition, with a special focus in so called non-mycorrhizal plants. This question will be explored via metagenomics sequencing (in house NextSeq sequencer).
The candidate should be a microbiologist or microbial ecologist with expertise in bioinformatics (genomics or metagenomics).
We are part of the microbial ecology lab in Lyon which is located in the Université Lyon 1 and is associated to the CNRS

We are recruiting a motivated Master's student with a strong background in microbiology, microbial ecology, or bioinformatics to join our SymbiLoss project. The successful candidate will investigate plant-microbiota interactions in non-mycorrhizal plants.
Outstanding students who excel in their studies (top 10%) may have the opportunity to compete for a 3-year PhD scholarship from the French Ministry to continue their research on this project (July 2025).
