Hello, my name is Julian Alvey and I have chosen to align my educational path with the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center because I am highly, interested in engineering and look forward to making a career out of my passion for engineering. The field of study I am striving for is Biomedical engineering. I believe the field of biomedical engineering is a great path for me because it aims at helping people and can help me achieve a good quality of life. I am interested in engineering because many famous inventors like Nikola Tesla made an impact on what is now today. Helping improve things for the future is what I want to do.
Some educational classes I have taken to assist me in achieving my goal are advanced math, science, and pre-engineering. I believe strongly, mathematical skills are a very important part of engineering as you need to make accurate calculations. Pre-engineering was the first step to me discovering my passion for engineering and getting a glimpse of what’s to come for my future. I am currently following an engineering educational path to help me get to the place I want to be, which is in the engineering career field. This education path has allowed me to gain hands-on experience and knowledge of various engineering equipment. An important equation I’ve learned so far is one that can help anyone working toward their future and that is: “Effort = results”, the amount of work you put in, is the outcome you are going to see.
I have the ability to work independently on tasks or on a team when necessary. I have learned through my experiences teamwork can make the dream work. I have the ability to work with different personalities and different levels of experience. I am able to provide leadership when needed. Effective leadership skills and high personal standards can increase productivity and the quality of any project.
When I graduate from high school, I am looking forward to attending a college/university to continue pursuing my goal of being a biomedical engineer. I am looking forward to my life beyond high school. The college experience will allow me to gain independence while learning the world as a young adult. I will be able to gain knowledge and experience while working towards my goal of becoming a Biomedical engineer. After graduation, I look forward to turning my goals into reality.
After I have reached my goal of being a biomedical engineer, I will be able to help others. As a biomedical engineer you design and build machines or tools to help in the medical industry; this could be a surgical robot or even an artificial heart. Every inventive creation I produce, I will know that it is out there in the world potentially saving lives. I could invent a device that makes exact incisions in the body that would otherwise be impossible for humans alone, the possibilities are endless. I am eager to use my creative thinking, educational skills, and passion for creating a better quality of life for everyone to produce a great future and a better world.
