I'm Julia Bryan, I’m a North Carolina voter and I'm currently the Vice Chair of Democrats Abroad Czech Republic (DACZ), where I live with my family in Prague. I’ve been active in DA for many years, and helped found the DACZ country committee in 2009. I've served in many positions in Democrats Abroad since, including Deputy RVC, Comms co-director, and International Secretary. It was my great honor to serve DA as International Chair from 2017 to 2021, when Democrats Abroad helped defeat Donald Trump.

I am currently very active at the global level of Democrats Abroad as an interim DNC member, and as a leader of the fundraising team. I’m running to continue my service to Democrats Abroad as a DNC member as we fight for democracy this year and in the future. 

Because of the work we did in 2020, Democrats Abroad is known by both the DNC and the Biden team as the state party that cast the votes that brought Georgia and Arizona over the finish line. That’s a reputation that we can all be proud of! 

As the DNC considers its support of state parties this year and moving forward, I will continue to work tirelessly to advocate for Democrats Abroad. I will tell our story to everyone that needs to hear it - helping ensure the DNC funds us, and that our progressive perspective is heard. And I will remind everyone why I was known by the DNC as Julia the-margin-of-victory Bryan when I was Chair. 

In talking to members about the DNC position, one question that I’ve heard is how I would vote on party issues and support DA’s progressive values. As International chair in 2017, I was the first state chair to stand up in the general meeting, and speak in support of the unity reform commission proposals, after earlier working with Larry Cohen, the chair of Our Revolution, to include the DA perspective in the reform package.

I have supported that work ever since and voted accordingly. I was also super proud to cast a vote for Bernie in 2016 at the national convention. I am currently a member of the DNC Members for Party Modernization group within the DNC, the heir to the Unity Reform Commission, and will continue to vote as a progressive voter within the DNC.

My action plan, if I am elected, will be to:

• Ensure that DA’s perspective is represented in the DNC,

• Vote in support of the progressive values that DA is aligned with.

• Meet as many state party members as possible and tell our story to them so they know who we are and how we can support them. 

• Reach out to DA members around the world to help make the work that we do at the DNC understandable and transparent

• Support the DNC caucuses, committees, and other groups that we are aligned with in their work, and work to help our team get on standing committees where changes can be made.

• Make sure I am a supportive DNC team member, both of Martha and Steve and of the rest of the team, working together to gain the DNC’s help for our efforts.

I am excited to support Martha, Steve and Democrats Abroad as we head into a Presidential election where every vote in every state will matter!
