This is a beautiful story of my son Tommie. It gives a glimpse of how he lives his life every day while dealing with hydrocephalus. It's a simple teaching tool I used to support my son by exposing him to different techniques to navigate through life while embracing his uniqueness created by God in a simple story.
Here are some facts about children with hydrocephalus: 33% have visual impairments, 35% live with seizures, 27% have cerebral palsy. Hydrocephalus is the most common reason for brain surgery in children.

Being a parent and watching your children interact with each other is priceless. As a mother watching Malia protect and comfort her brother over the years demonstrates the strength of the sibling bond. Although Tommie had his own learning challenges with hydrocephalus, it was clear his sister was his voice and driving force whenever he needed it.
"Easy read, relatable
I appreciated the narrative put through the lens of a child growing up with a disability. This helps him understand and embrace himself as well as to help others understand his differences. Through the illustrations, it is shown that Tommie is always around either family or friends. It demonstrates the importance of having family/friends around you that will support and be with you through good and bad times. "
