THE REFERENCE PHOTOGRAPH
Thank you for your enquiry. Please find below information regarding reference photo’s.
To produce a drawing I need a good quality digital photograph emailing to me. I zoom into photographs constantly to be able to see the detail.
The photographs I use for your portrait is the most significant part of the process. Since I work from photographs, the completed portrait depends on the quality of the photograph’s that you send me.
If possible, use a high quality digital camera. Most mobile phones do now produce good quality photo’s, however a digital camera gives more clarity.
Try not to look down on your pet when taking a photo, it is important to take it from your pet’s level since your portrait will hand on your wall at eye level.
Ideally, it is better if your pet is looking slightly to the left or right of the camera. Straight on shots can make the animal’s face look flat.
Where possible, try to take photos outside in natural lighting rather than inside with a flash but try to avoid strong sunlight as this can slightly change the colouring.
Check your photos to make sure that when you zoom in it does not go blurry. The eyes are a very important part of your pet and it’s character so these need to be clear and not in shade.
This may sound a lot but just enjoy taking photo’s at different times so that you can capture your pet’s personality and character. If you are unable to take new photo’s because your pet has sadly passed away, I am still more than happy to see your photo’s even if you are unsure about their quality.
