Dr. Julene Reed is an international consultant, presenter, researcher, instructional designer, instructional coach, and education author with over twenty–five years of experience in K-12 education and six years of experience in higher education. Julene holds a doctorate in educational leadership with a focus on global education. She is an Apple Distinguished
Educator, Apple Teacher, Google for Education Certified Trainer, Adobe Certified Educator, and Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert and Trainer. Julene has traveled globally as an Advisory Council member of both Dr. Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots and Polar Bears International’s Tundra Connections programs.
Julene has recently led webinars and multiple events on the use of generative AI in education, focusing on how these technologies can provide innovative strategies for teaching and learning and streamline workflows. Maximizing the application and use of AI and ChatGPT, navigating
the benefits and concerns for these technologies (including copyright and ethics), building digital citizenship and digital literacy skills, and assuring our students are prepared for today’s world and their futures are all important topics that are relevant in her work with generative AI. Julene serves as an adjunct professor in Lamar University’s Digital Learning and Leading program, a co-instructor with Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teacher’s College, and an adjunct professor at Abilene Christian University, Dallas. She is an advisory board member of Actionable Innovations Global and a previous board member of Kognity Education’s Science program.
Julene implemented Learning Studios in Australia, New Zealand, and Azraq Refugee Camp in Jordan with Digital Promise Global and HP as well as UNHDR, CARE, and InZone. Julene coordinated a mobile technology education initiative with iPads in Malawi in collaboration with Lamar University, the University of Malawi, UNICEF, and VSO, where she did her doctoral research. She has also worked with Suumu Secondary School in Tanzania. Julene previously directed a series of presentations with INEE, and UNHDR at UNESCO’s Mobile Learning Week in Paris, France. Julene has also worked with Digital Promise, Apple Education, Microsoft
Education, Google Education, and Verizon Innovative Learning.
Julene believes through harnessing the power of technology, we can empower students and educators to be lifelong learners and make a difference in our world.
