Youth exchange | Mezzoldo 20-27 September 2026
Juggling at High Altitude (in Italian, Giocoleria ad Alta Quota) is an international youth mobility project funded by the Erasmus+ Programme. It brings together 36 young people from Italy, Romania, Lithuania, Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia for a shared learning experience in a unique mountain environment.
The project creates a safe and inspiring space where young people can discover the educational value of juggling, acrobalance and circus arts while reconnecting with nature and with one another. Rather than focusing on performance or competition, these disciplines become accessible tools for personal growth, cooperation and intercultural dialogue.
Through juggling workshops, acrobalance activities, body awareness exercises, outdoor education and guided reflection, participants develop coordination, trust, resilience and communication skills. They learn to embrace mistakes as part of the learning process, support one another through shared challenges, and express themselves beyond language barriers.
In this way, the mountain becomes more than just a venue—it becomes an open-air classroom where movement, creativity and nature come together to foster well-being, inclusion and meaningful connections across cultures.
We strongly believe in the power of non-formal education—not simply because it is at the heart of the Erasmus+ Youth Programme, but because it creates meaningful opportunities for active participation, experiential learning and personal growth. It encourages young people to learn by doing, experimenting and reflecting together in a supportive environment.
From a youth work perspective, our methodology combines juggling, acrobalance, body awareness and outdoor education to foster the development of key competences such as teamwork, communication, resilience and intercultural understanding. Through movement-based activities, cooperative challenges and guided reflection, participants discover new ways of learning that actively involve both body and mind.
By relying on movement, non-verbal communication and shared practical experiences, this approach creates an inclusive learning environment that goes beyond language barriers. Juggling, in particular, encourages participants to embrace mistakes as a natural part of learning, while acrobalance builds trust, cooperation and mutual responsibility.
This methodology offers an accessible and engaging learning experience, even for young people with limited English skills or little confidence in formal educational settings. As a result, the project becomes especially meaningful for participants with fewer opportunities, providing safe spaces to develop self-confidence, express themselves, build meaningful relationships and actively participate in an international community.

Participants will develop practical and transferable competences through juggling, acrobalance and outdoor non-formal education. They will improve coordination, concentration, teamwork, communication and self-confidence, while learning to embrace mistakes as part of the learning process. The project will also strengthen intercultural understanding, body awareness and healthy, sustainable lifestyles through direct contact with nature.
Partner organisations will enhance their capacity to deliver high-quality youth work by exchanging good practices and integrating movement-based and outdoor education methodologies into their future activities. The project will further strengthen the international network established among the partner organisations, laying the foundations for new Erasmus+ initiatives.
Beyond the mobility, participants will implement follow-up activities in their local communities, sharing the methods and values experienced during the exchange. Through workshops, dissemination events, social media and digital materials, the project will promote inclusion, active participation, well-being and the educational potential of circus-based activities and outdoor learning.
The activities will take place in Mezzoldo, a charming mountain village in Val Brembana, in the province of Bergamo, Italy.
The venue, Rifugio Madonna delle Nevi, offers welcoming indoor spaces and wide outdoor areas where participants can engage in group work, creative sessions and moments of reflection in close contact with nature. The mountain setting is not just a backdrop, but an essential part of the learning experience, fostering focus, connection and a strong sense of community.
