The goal of this assignment is to express our informed opinion about digital media and to be able to describe our dependance of it as well as to remark some information that we gather through this unit.
It seems that I'm more dependent than I thought of social media, I'm not really a type of person that publishes a lot of stuff, I'm more of a passive scroller, but I suppose I still get distracted fairly easy from my responsibilities just swiping through y phone, I would want to think that I'll try to change this in the future, but being honest with myself, I doubt that I will unless I really feel like its repercussing negatively in my life on a unsustainable way.
I chose this statistic from the page as I considered it was the one that provided the most information, one part that I found interesting was the correlation between financial status and social media use, it seems that people with higher income use more social media probably because they have easier access to the internet, I suppose we could expect this numbers to go higher as poverty decreases in many parts of the U.S, ideally. I think money is something we can all relate to ourselves so thats why I chosed to talk about this one in specific.
I think that social media impact can't be purely described as bad or good but mostly grey depending on the individual, the same way that someone may find a type of medication to be beneficial to them, others might feel dependency or experience distress after being online for too long, and as any other thing in our lives, it is important to use social media with moderation as its negative effects usually come as a result of being connected for so long, many people find ways to make a living in many ways through this platforms like entertainment or divulgating information, knowledge is power and I think being able to connect with everyone makes us stronger as a society.
I think the statistic part was the part that I found the most the most interesting and therefore the part that I had the most fun me, therefore the part that I feel like I learned the most, it was interesting to see how demmographics change the way we use social media and being able to come to conclusions based on this information, I also learned more about myself, about my use of technology and question myself if I'm being responsible about it or not.
