Mr. Alex White

Mr. Alex White has been a band director for the past eleven years, serving two years at Whittle Springs Middle School in Knoxville, Tennessee, eight years at Siegel High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee as the Director of Bands, and will begin year 2 at Sevier Middle in Fall 2022. Originally from Knoxville, Mr. White graduated from Bearden High School and received his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee; where he also served as the Drum Major of the Pride of the Southland Band. Mr. White also holds a Master’s Degree from Concordia University and an Educational Specialist Degree from Arkansas State University, both in educational leadership and administration.

Mr. White is married to his wife, Katelynn, and they have two children: Ella and Jackson. In his free time, Mr. White is an avid Pickleball player. Mr. White has strong family ties to the Kingsport area. His father attended John Sevier Middle and his mother attended Ross N. Robinson Middle and Dobyns-Bennett High School. His grandparents were the original owners of Morgan Tire Service and his great grandfather, James C. White, formerly served in leadership roles at “Tennessee Eastman”, Holston Valley Community Hospital and King College.

Mr. White is excited to return to East Tennessee and looks forward to working alongside the great teachers, parents and students of the Kingsport community.

Mr. Andrew Pahos

Assistant Band Director - John Sevier Middle School - apahos@k12k.com

Originally from Birmingham, AL, Mr. Andrew Pahos attended Middle Tennessee State University and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music Education. While attending MTSU, he taught private lessons in bassoon and saxophone and taught several high school marching bands in both Tennessee and Alabama. Since 2019, Mr. Pahos has spent part of his summer working for Music For All as a resident counselor at their Summer Symposium. In addition to teaching, he performed with the MTSU Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Band of Blue Marching Band, and several chamber ensembles. Mr. Pahos has also performed professionally with The Jackson Symphony (Jackson, TN) and The Huntsville Symphony (Huntsville, AL) on bassoon and contrabassoon.

In his free time, Mr. Pahos loves playing disc golf, hiking in the Kingsport area, and watching hockey. Mr. Pahos is new to Kingsport this year, so he is incredibly excited to explore the city more and work with all of the great teachers, parents, and students of John Sevier Middle School.
