Frequently asked questions
Where can I find a copy of the Waiver?
This is the waiver for you to print: WAIVER. You can print it at home and bring to the event for us to add our signature and we will have copies of the waiver at the event for you.
How do I pay?
Please send E-transfers to js4breathwork@gmail.com or you can bring exact cash on the day of the event. We do not have change.
What should I bring?
The aim is to be warm and comfortable, so it's best to bring your own:
mat(s) - if more than 1 is what you prefer, then bring them.
blanket(s) - if more than 1 is what you prefer, then bring them.
a pillow or two
cozy socks
an eye mask if you wish to block out any light, but it's not necessary
a pen/pencil
a journal
water
tea cup for those sessions with post-breathwork tea time available.
If you have oracle cards, feel free to bring those as well, but we will have some decks for your use.
What can I expect when I arrive?
Upon arriving, you will stow your coats, shoes, bags. Then you will find a space to set up your mat(s), blanket(s) and pillow(s). Once everyone is in place, we will begin the experience.
What is Intentional Breathwork?
Intentional Breathwork is all about activating your parasympathetic nervous system in ways that promote relaxation and a moving away from the "fight or flight" stress response. You may experience altered states of consciousness: intensified emotional states, visualizations, spiritual awareness, as well as a variety of bodily sensations from tingling, to warming, cooling, among other sensations. We will share more about these when we are together.
What can I expect during the breathwork experience?
This is you personal breathwork journey, so your experience will be unique to you. You will be guided through every step. Music will be playing to help move you through the various breathwork stages. Jen and Shannon will circulate to provide gentle support in ways that work for you. We will ask your permission and set you up so that you can feel supported in a way that works for you.
How is parking?
In all instances for in-person events, give yourself extra time to find parking which may be a block or two away and require you to walk a couple minutes. We'd like to start right at the scheduled start time, so please give yourself plenty of time to feel calm and relaxed as you arrive. If you are attending with others, think about carpooling to the space. If you are local, perhaps enjoy a lovely walk or bike ride.
What if I am late?
Be on time as there is no way to compensate for missed sessions and, due to the nature of the breathwork experience, the doors will need to be closed and locked precisely at the booked start time, so no late arrivals will be permitted entry. We encourage you to arrive 15-20 minutes prior to start time so you have enough time to get set up and settled.Â
Is it like hyperventilating?
Great question! NO. At all times you will be in control and aware of your breathing, able to slow down or speed up as needed. Jen and Shannon will be present to support and guide you throughout.
Why oracle cards?
Oracle cards are a fun and sometimes profound validation tool that we use at the end of each session. We will have cards for you to borrow and we will draw cards for each of you. From those cards, you might just find the words you needed hear that day.
Is there a washroom?
We select rental spaces where washrooms are available. Some spaces may have just one washroom, do your best to take care of your bio needs prior to arriving. You may use the washroom at any time during the session; however, please be as quiet and efficient as possible to honour the experience of the other breathers.
