Get Involved at JRRES

We love when our parents and families are a part of school life! Whether you’re volunteering in the classroom, joining a field trip, or connecting with the Parent Community Advisory Council (PCAC), your time, voice, and energy make a lasting difference for our students.

Chaperone Field Trips or Become a Classroom Parent

Volunteering is one of the best ways to share in your child’s school experience. To ensure safety and readiness, PGCPS requires all volunteers to complete a few simple steps before they can chaperone or help in classrooms.

What You Need to Do:

1. Complete Background Check & Fingerprinting

   • Required for all volunteers and chaperones.

   • For Title I schools like ours, fingerprinting is free of charge.

   • Background checks must be cleared and current before volunteering begins.

2. Complete Required Volunteer Trainings

   • Training modules are available online and free.

   • Topics include safety protocols, student privacy (FERPA), and school policies.

Where to Get Fingerprinted:
Approved fingerprinting sites are available across Prince George’s County. Title I volunteers like us receive fingerprinting for free (non–Title I schools typically charge $20–$30).
