Step Challenge

J.P. Case Virtual Step Challenge

What is it: There may be no spring softball, baseball, or lacrosse games this season, but that doesn't mean we can’t add a little competition back into our lives! Introducing to you the first ever J.P. Case Virtual Step Challenge! Our goal is to bring team competitiveness back into your lives while also helping you stay active. This competition is for the month of May, and it is simple! Every step you take, you earn points for your team. At the end of the week, we will take your entire team’s step total and average it out to one team number. This means if you enter 0 steps for the week, it will hurt your team’s total significantly! You are competing against the three other spring teams to see which team can step their way to victory. Did I mention your coaches’ step totals will be added to your team’s total as well!?

Why Steps?: Steps are easy, everyone can do it, and you don’t need any special equipment! You accumulate them with everything you do. Whether you’re going for a jog or walking to the fridge for a snack, you’re earning steps!

What do you need: You need something that can record your steps throughout the entirety of a day. Some examples include.

  • Smart phones
  • Ipods
  • Smart watches
  • Fitbit
  • Pedometer

Where do I record my steps: You will find in your google classroom a “Step Challenge Counter.” This will be a link to a Google Form where you will submit your total number of steps as well as a picture to verify your steps. Steps will be recorded Monday-Friday (12:00am-11:59pm). Competition is great only when the playing field is fair. We hope you will be honest when posting your steps! To get your best results, record your steps for the previous days. For example, enter your Monday steps on Tuesday morning, so you get the max amount of steps a day!

But, what do I win?: The satisfaction of being the superior step champion of J.P. Case Middle School! But, if bragging rights aren't your thing, the team with the most points will receive a team plaque that will be showcased in the J.P. Case trophy section located in the front hallways of the middle school! Last, but not least...each season, a player is awarded a MVP award for being the team's most valuable player. Well, in this competition, you have a chance to earn the prestigious MVS award. The MOST VALUABLE STEPPER! This means you contributed the most steps towards your team's goal. Each team will be awarded a MVS award.
