Junior Drama Syllabus & Grading Overview Spring 2018

Goals: To introduce principles of theater encompassing acting technique and theater etiquette. To provide opportunities for exploration and character development.

Grading:

Attendance: 30% of grade

2 points a day (1 point off for being tardy to class)

Citizenship: 30% of grade

2 points a day (Participation / Being respectful)

Final Performances: 30% of grade

Attend the Heritage school semester play: 10% of grade

Each junior high drama student is required to attend Heritage’s play, The Music Man, on April 11, 12, 13, or 14 beginning at 7 p.m. (with a Saturday Matinee at 2 p.m.) Cost is $5.00.
Tuesday, April 17 students must return a parent/guardian signed play program or ticket stub to class, proving the student attended the play.

Audition for a play, performing group, or concert (4 points).
Attend a second play, concert, or Jesterz Improv in the community and submit the program or ticket stub with your parent signature (4 points each).
Do a set design / costume design ( examples of a costume design) / or makeup design (example of a makeup design) for your ensemble scene or monologue characters (2 points each).

Materials needed: A heavy folder (with pockets and 3 hole PRONGS to hold handouts and scripts), notebook paper, pencil, pen, highlighter, and anything needed for scene work.

Important Dates:

Final Performances: Parents, guardians, and loved ones are welcome to attend the final performances of
- Monologues on Thursday, April 12 in the Heritage Mesa Auditorium
